For a while now I have been considering starting a blog. I love following my friend's blogs so I thought "hey I can do that". As you will find out I am not a professional writer (ha I'm a researcher, that is my sister) and I write like I talk so no grammar police (please and thank you). So now that the obligatory "opening statement" is out of they way, lets gets started on sharing my random thoughts, concerns, soap box issues, dreams (I have a very active imagination so you will be highly amused) and every day events.
This morning I was taking the commuter train to work and I saw an individual get off in a beautiful light blue silk skirt suit and then she trodded off in crappy flip flops. This got me on my soap box and I had to share on Facebook this morning with my friends. I'll cut and paste for those of you who didn't have the pleasure of my rant this morning.
FB: Let's
talk about flip flops shall we? I love to be barefoot most of the time
and will give in to wearing shoes as necessary so I do love sandals and
flip flops. I own several pairs of sandals and only about 3 pairs of
flip flops (what can I say I don't like the thong between my toes
feeling). With that said I have to step up on my soap box now . . . "HEY
LADY" what makes you think that you look put together when you have a
nice dress, skirt or even a suit (gasp) and then you walk around in flip
flops, crappy ole flip flops? Did you not look at yourself this
morning? When did you ever think that outfit was complete with flip
flops? Flip flops are for jeans, shorts and your bathing suit - not to
finish your silk suit or floral dress with.
Oh and when did it
become logical to wear a pair of flip flops and an ace wrap around your
ankle/foot? Hello it defeats the purpose of wearing the ace wrap. You
have obviously done something that causes pain (and probably swelling)
so you need a shoe with structure and support so you can heal! OMG -
when did we approve flip flops as fashion that goes with anything? And
why are people wearing flip flops on days when they are wandering all
over hell and back (i.e. tourists). Did you not hear that doctors have
finally said flip flops are not to be worn when doing any length of
walking? They provide no protection or support for your feet and arches.
I am all for comfort and ease but there plenty of other shoes out there
that will go with your outfit that are light and easy. Ballet flats are
comfortable and light weight - they sure make you look more put
together than those crappy flip flops.
OK I'll step down from
my soap box (in my ballet flats - from Sketchers - very comfy and they
look nice with my brown pants, jeans, shorts, skirts, etc). I may not be
a size 6, be 5 foot 10 inches, and a beautiful model but I was taught a
few things about fashion and comfort from my mom. Don't get me started
on how ladies don't seem to feel the need to wear a slip anymore and
black bras with white t-shirts!
